Over the years, Allied has earned a reputation for taking on some of the industry’s most complex challenges. With problem-solving and client satisfaction at the heart of everything we do, we’ve had countless opportunities to develop innovative solutions, many of which we’ve gone on to adopt as best practices. Sometimes this has meant taking risks and investing in industry leading technologies or pioneering new methods. Other times this has meant pivoting our approach at a moment’s notice, learning on our agility and adaptability to support our client’s end goals no matter what.

Often, we attribute our success and the success of our projects to collaboration, building trust over the years and nurturing invaluable time-tested partnerships. Though all of our projects have taught us unique and essential lessons, here are some of the top takeaways that continue to drive our success.

Innovation is an Investment

Part of solving our clients’ problems involves thinking about innovation as an investment. As our industry evolves, our clients’ needs evolve too and it’s important to stay ahead of what’s next. We’ve made some significant investments over the last five years, opening two new fabrication facilities, while bringing in new people, tools, and technologies that support them, and all of this has been to better serve our clients. Solutions can come from anywhere, whether that’s robotics and automation, new facilities, or new team members, and we’re committed to leading the charge in innovation within our industry.

“Our mission is about the client and we’re going to follow what the client needs from us.” – Michael Lassner, President and CEO of Allied Steel Buildings

Trust is the Foundation of Lasting Partnerships

Our most valuable partnerships have been built upon trust, which we’ve earned by identifying and implementing solutions that allow us to meet our clients needs, no matter the odds. Some of our projects were defined by challenges that we signed up for on day one. Others presented unexpected obstacles, which required fast thinking and new solutions. Maintaining control over what we produce in our facilities broadened our capabilities and allowed us to redefine what was possible in terms of quality and timing, further expanding the value we can offer our clients in the years to come.

Collaboration is Key

We wouldn’t be where we are today if it weren’t for the countless hours of collaboration with our clients, suppliers, and allies across the construction industry. From design to erection, bringing our buildings to life takes a village and we’re fortunate to work with the best in the business. We’ve had the privilege to earn referrals to new clients from previous clients’ projects. We frequently join forces with clients, suppliers, and other partners in new and innovative ways. When we say we’re with you all the way, we’re collaborating from ideation to installation and beyond.

Lean Into Challenges

Pursuing and facing challenges pushes us to stay nimble and evolve in terms of how we think about problems and their solutions. Tight timing, engineering limitations, shipping delays, uncooperative weather, and all kinds of other unexpected obstacles have paved the way to better solutions and new opportunities to serve our clients.

Embracing What Makes Us different

We’re proud of our identity as problem solvers and by thinking outside the box, focusing on flexibility, and delivering where others can’t or won’t we’ve stood out as undeterred solutionists within our industry. When we consider what’s next we continue to be guided by our pride for doing things differently.

As we expand our manufacturing and engineering capabilities, we look forward to providing steel building solutions for clients across the globe.

Enhancing Our Client’s Strengths with Our Own

When one of the fastest-growing players in Panama’s food distribution and supermarket industry contacted us to produce a steel building solution with the potential to transform their operations, we rolled up our sleeves and jumped on board. The project would mark our third venture together and a turning point in our client’s growth story during our decade long history of collaboration. After years of leasing, our client was ready to invest in their first-ever owned distribution warehouse, signifying a major milestone in their expansion. With their sights set on this new chapter, they turned to us once again as their trusted partner. The stakes for success were high but our drive to help them succeed was higher.

A Landmark Distribution Facility

Designed to support our client’s accelerating growth, our pre-engineered steel building is now the second-largest food distribution facility in Panama City. The building consists of our signature primary steel with durable horizontal and vertical PBR panels, a functional mezzanine, and an efficient loading dock designed to optimize ease of operations. As with previous builds, Allied collaborated with our longtime design partner Decimal to bring the client’s vision to life. The design process was smooth and efficient, supported by years of us working together.

Stay tuned for progress photos.

Transforming Setbacks Into Stepping Stones

Despite a frictionless start, the project faced significant delays due to local permitting challenges. Rather than allowing momentum to stall, we stepped in to support our client by participating in meetings with local authorities to help remove obstacles and expedite progress. Throughout the eleven month delay, we worked collaboratively with our client to identify solutions that enabled us to maintain our original pricing, proving once again that when we say, “we’re with you all the way,” we mean it. Together our determination and strategic planning guided us past the permitting hurdles and fabrication was underway by September 2024, making it possible for there to be steel on the ground by December.

Building Partnerships as Strong as Steel

By trusting us to deliver a project that not only represents a major financial investment but also a critical strategic step forward for our client, they gave us another opportunity to demonstrate the unique value of a long term partnership. Our shared understanding, which developed over the course of our long history of working together, helped us identify how to prioritize our client’s satisfaction whenever possible. With trust and transparency guiding our work, we exceeded our client’s expectations, navigating permitting challenges and holding favorable pricing despite the project’s delays. We are proud to have helped make this milestone a reality and look forward to continuing our shared growth.

At Allied Steel Buildings, from the moment a project is conceived to the day it’s delivered, our success is defined by our ability to collaborate across departments, with our partners, and most importantly, with our clients. This integrated approach fuels smoother project execution, fosters long-term relationships, and empowers us to deliver solutions where others can’t.

Allied Steel Buildings

Every project we take on is unique and often complex but when our internal teams approach challenges as a united front and align on goals from day one, we can ensure that every detail is executed with precision and care.

We approach how we work with our clients in the same way. We believe that the best outcomes come when they are brought into the fold early and often, which is why we take a consultative approach, involving them throughout the planning and execution processes with open dialogue that aligns our capabilities with their visions. Over the years, this is how we’ve earned trust and fostered partnerships that last well beyond project completion.

Powering Teamwork Through Technology

Recognizing that successful collaboration requires the right infrastructure, we recently launched our own enterprise resource planning system, A360. At its core, A360 connects every department and critical tool under one cohesive system. It integrates best-in-class software, like MBS for estimating, Zoho CRM for client relationships, STRUMIS for fabrication, and Tekla for BIM modeling into a unified platform. By doing so, A360 provides real-time visibility, streamlines communication, and improves coordination across every phase of the project lifecycle.

By bridging gaps between departments and eliminating inefficiencies caused by siloed systems, A360 empowers our teams to work faster and smarter. For example, the integration between Zoho CRM and our scheduler ensures that sales timelines seamlessly align with project scheduling, allowing for a smoother transition from proposal to production. Fabrication schedules now automatically reflect real-time project updates, which keeps everything running on track, from engineering deliverables to final delivery.

Importantly, A360 was developed by cross-functional teams representing every part of our business. Sales, engineering, operations, logistics, and IT came together to build a system that not only meets their individual needs but enhances how they work together. It’s a shining example of Allied’s commitment to teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Collaboration at the Core of Automation

Our focus on collaboration extends to our manufacturing floor, especially as we adopt advanced robotics and automation. Robotics are integral to our fabrication process at both of our facilities and as Vice President of Engineering Franz Mutiz explains, that requires a new level of coordination between engineering, detailing, and manufacturing teams.

“Automation changes how we design and plan. It forces us to think not just about how a building should perform, but how each piece will be produced and assembled,” Mutiz says. “To get it right, our teams have to work in lockstep, from concept to final weld.”

Building Better, Together

At Allied, collaboration is what keeps projects moving, teams aligned, and clients satisfied. It’s how we’ve been able to tackle some of the industry’s most complex challenges and deliver consistently exceptional results. From developing and implementing new technologies like A360 to the day-to-day partnerships between our departments and clients, collaboration is the engine that drives our success. By continuing to invest in tools and processes that support this culture, we’re not only improving project execution—we’re building partnerships that, like our buildings, are designed to stand the test of time.
